Lighting Corous at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro
At Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, Corous by Cliff Garten Studio creates a visual connection between the Women’s and Children’s Center and the Heart and Vascular Center.
Completed in 2024, the sculpture was conceived to gather the feelings and imagery associated with these two areas of the hospital campus. According to Cliff Garten Studio, the work reflects the aspirations of both divisions and connects with Cone Health’s focus on preventative medicine and continuing care within the community.
Constructed from stainless steel rods and castings, Corous measures approximately 12 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 12 feet high.
Erden E4 Inground Lighting Reveals the Sculpture After Dark
To extend the experience of the artwork into the evening, eight Lumascape Erden E4 inground luminaires were positioned around the sculpture.
The luminaires illuminate Corous from below, revealing the form, structure, and layered stainless steel composition after sunset. Their inground installation keeps the lighting discreet within the surrounding space, allowing the sculpture itself to remain the focal point.
This approach to sculpture lighting adds depth and definition without introducing visually dominant lighting equipment around the artwork.
